PLACES TO VISIT IN ALBANIA

Ethem Bey Mosque

The mosque built during the Ottoman Empire in Tirana, the capital of today's Republic of Albania. It was built in 1791 by Hacı Edhem Bey and his father, Petrelalı Molla Bey. It is an ethnography museum located in Akçahisar, Albania. The museum was established in the name of Skender Bey and is located within the Akçahisar Castle and the restored bazaar. Akçahisar Castle, which houses the museum, is a historical castle. Ottoman troops attacked the castle three times in 1450, 1466 and 1467, but failed to gain control. It helped Skanderbeg's Albania resist the Ottomans for more than twenty years.

St. Stephen's Cathedral of Shkodra

It is a Roman Catholic cathedral located in Shkodra, Albania. The Ottoman Cathedral was opened in 1867 on the site of the former church, Fatih Sultan Mehmed Mosque, and was dedicated to Stefan, one of the Christian saints. The cathedral was damaged during the Siege of Shkodër (1912–1913), especially on the south-eastern side, as a result of the attack of the Montenegrin army, causing a fire in the bell tower. The cathedral was closed in 1967 and reopened in 1990.
