PLACES TO VISIT IN SLOVENIA

Ljubljana Castle: Originally a medieval castle, the castle was probably built in the 11th century and rebuilt in the 12th century. It was almost completely renovated in the 15th century to obtain its current outline, while most of the buildings date from the 16th and 17th centuries. Originally a defensive structure and a residence of the lords of Carniola from the first half of the 14th century, the castle was used for various other purposes from the early 19th century onwards and is today an important cultural site.

Dragon Bridge:  Built in the early 20th century when Ljubljana was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

Ljubljana Central Market: The building was designed by Jože Plečnik in 1931-39.

University of Ljubljana:  It is the first and largest university established in Slovenia. With 39,000 undergraduate and graduate students, it is one of the largest universities in the world.

Ljubljana Cathedral (St. Nicholas Church): This was previously a Roman church and remained so from 1262 to 1361. When the church was destroyed in a great fire in 1361, it was rebuilt in the Gothic style. Various arrangements and changes were made during the establishment of the Bishopric of Ljubljana, that is, in 1461. With these last changes, the church became a cathedral.

Preseren Square: The central square of Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. It is an important meeting point where festivals, concerts, sports events, and political events take place. It was redesigned from a funnel shape to a circular shape in 1987-88, according to the plans of Edvard Ravnikar, and renovated in 2007.
